Net fishing in the Delaware River is an exercise in strength and endurance. Netters leave the dock at predawn and carefully weave their way through the marsh and out to the river before the laying of the nets begins. The captain watches over his shoulder, to keep tension on the nets. Hauling in the nets, removing the fish, and releasing those that can't be kept is a continuous flow of motion that requires synchronized teamwork. With luck, the crew returns in 8 hours with 800 pounds of fish.
